If this happens we go directly to $200k
If this happens we go directly to $200k
I always thought “satoshis” was faggy
If a Bitcoin only cost $0.001, how many would you buy?
but then the total supply of btc is like 21 tirllionb
One btc is already equal to 100 million satoshis
Thats the most retarded proposition ive ever read
One bitcoin is 1000000 bitcoins? That will totally not confuse anyone, why not just 0.000001 bitcoin
It doesn't make latecomers feel good to buy 0.000001 of something
They want to feel like they have a lot
totally useless
jack is useless too
I don't want normies buying a satoshi and acting like they are whole coiners.
he wears a satoshi t shirt what faggot
So let them buy 1000 satoshis if that makes then feel better
Saying i own 1000 bitcoins doesnt make any fucking sense
Unironically a good idea. Fucking so tired saying/using/thinking/seeing "zero point zero zero zero six" and shit as units. Saying 100k, 200k, 50k, 5k is so much fucking easier.
200k might be fud.
most newfags thinks small price = can go up more and buy some shit like xrp.
btc price would be 0,001 and newfags would buy it like it would go back to 100k in 2 years.
the psychological effect is not to be underestimated
This BIP is not necessary or needed, if "...The decimal point is merely a human-imposed abstraction..." then why is it so important to impose another human abstraction? The goal is to change perception from the scarcity of Bitcoin from 21,000,000 to 2,100,000,000,000,000 LOL. Imagine the perception of the scarcity of Bitcoin now. "There will only ever be 2,100,000,000,000,000 Bitcoin --- it's so scarce!", "Yes, Mr. Order Book? I'd like to purchase 21,000,000 Bitcoin! (0.21 Bitcoin)" Having a decimal point imposed on the unit to create a 'Whole Bitcoin' perception is vitally important to the whole DIVISIBILITY and SCARCITY tenets of currency. This would also upend over a decade of the STABLE SUPPLY properties of Bitcoin.
The perception shift is NOT NEEDED, altering already informed perception is NOT NEEDED. This is moving the goal posts for a perceived benefit of what exactly "...This representation requires dealing with eight simulated decimal places, which can be confusing and foster the misconception that bitcoin is inherently decimal-based..." --- this change is NOT NEEDED. The user doesn't need a perception change to adopt Bitcoin, the user adopts Bitcoin due to the inherent properties ALREADY ESTABLISHED.
This change would make it INFINITELY easier to be confused. "Oh yes, Mr. Coffee Man, I'd like an espresso, I will be paying for it with 21,000 Bitcoin. (0.00021 Bitcoin)", "Hello Mr. Mechanic Man, I'd like an oil change and new oil filter, I will be paying for it with 2,100,000 Bitcoin. (0.021 Bitcoin)" --- Wait, what was that...TWENTY ONE THOUSAND BITCOIN?! TWENTY ONE MILLION BITCOIN?! It's absurd and NOT NEEDED, there is a reason this math is handled on the back-end and is not 'customer facing'. This change is NOT NEEDED and makes the user interaction more confused. It REMOVES the properties of SCARCITY and DIVISIBILITY, holy fuck this is stupid.
2,100,000,000,000,000 units of currency
low divisibility
scarcity changes from high to low
ok retard
Jack Dorsey supports....
No
sirs we made bitcoins 100 more expensive than pepes but 50 less expensive than moodengs but you should feel good now that you have 100 millions of them sirs
utterly retarded, DIGITAL GOLD must have TANGIBLE WEIGHT
b-but I can't buy 1 bitcoin!
GOOD
FEEL POOR
GET RICHER
yes, it is a retarded idea
so retarded it might actually work
Disastrous, as has been shown here. Just make Coingecko and others list the Satoshi price of Bitcoin.
I’ll add that the media would be all over this claiming “Bitcoin is dead” and trading at only $0.000000105. Would mobilize a ton of slurppers and retail.
IF THEY ARE ALL WHOLE UNITS, THERE IS NO DIVISIBILITY ... RATED LOW (AS IN "NOT A GOOD THING")
IF THERE ARE 2,100,000,000,000,000 WHOLE UNITS, THERE IS NO SCARCITY ... RATED LOW (AS IN "NOT A GOOD THING")
The ratings are in the context of how well these forms of currency uphold the central properties of currency, a rating of HIGH means YES, GOOD; a rating of LOW means NO, BAD. I'd venture to guess you are one of the people that needs this BIP to succeed because you are either ESL, not economically educated, financially illiterate or just a bad actor.
scam retards who cannot fathom 1 BTC is 1 BTC by convincing them they actually have "10,000 bitcoins"
The same people probably didn't want bitcoin when it was worth a penny.
mega top signal
feel like end of 2021
If this is a top then that means LINK is $15 at the top
FARTCOIN/BTC is now 1132
yeah that would mobilize them alright
fuck token not needed
its only btc that matters nigger
BIP177 doesn't change anything about the scarcity, divisibility, or history of bitcoin. It doesn't change anything about bitcoin except in the minds of idiots.
Hello guys what’s happening here I’m retarded
I literally could not give less of a fuck about that left wing tranny cocksucking nigger.
retard lol
A DOLLAR IS ACTUALLY 100 PENNIES THAT MEANS THE USD HAS LOW DIVISIBILITY CHECKMATE LIBTARDS
GOLD BARS ARE ACTUALLY MADE OF INDIVISIBLE ATOMS THEREFORE IF WE START REFERRING TO GOLD BARS BY IT'S MOLAR WEIGHT IT'LL HAVE LOW DIVISIBILITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are so fucking stupid. All the bip does is rename "sats" to "bitcoin".
"Sats" are fucking retarded, people are retarded, do you know how hard it is to explain bitcoin to someone? Well after you fucking explain bitcoin to them now explain uhm ackstually bitcoin has "cents" kind of like the dollar but no, no there's not 100 cents in a bitcoin, there's 100,000,000 cents in a bitcoin... ok yes actually they're not called cents they're called satoshis. yes satoshi, he was a guy who invented bitcoin. well actually we call them "sats". yes you can buy sats. no, no exchange calls them sats, to buy sats you have to buy bitcoin. no it's the same thing, if you have bitcoin you have sats. sats are bitcoin. well uh, sats are a fraction of a bitcion. ok yes you want to type in the exchange zero point zero zero zero three, that's the amount you want. ok now to calculate the amount of sats you just bought multiply zero point zero zero zero three by 100 million.
OR
"Dad, buy bitcoin."
If we trade in 1kg gold ingots, there is a ton of divisibility. The money is really scarce too! In fact, it's hard to get a hold of an entire kilogram gold ingot, and when you do trade it you have to buy a ton of shit.
But wait, hold on! Let's say we change our unit of account to individual gold atoms, for no reason. Our money is no longer divisible or scarce and there is no established history, oh dear god what have we done the price of gold is plummeting, said no one ever.
The scarcity of a currency has nothing to do with the ability to increase the relative supply, not if the amount of the supply denominated in some arbitrary unit is subjectively "a lot".
The divisibility of the has to do with the value of indivisible units relative to everything else, and the ease of dividing units of currency. If we're living in the year 2100 and the smallest amount of bitcoin is worth 3 months of food, you can't use it to buy 1 month of food; it doesn't matter if that unit is called a satoshi or a bitcoin.
they are trying to rename "satoshis" to "bitcoins" and "bitcoins" to "100,000,000 bitcoin" so people can feel 100 million times richer when they look at their bitcoin wallet.
Then the BIP is not needed, is it? It's just an attempt to alter perceptions and lower the trust in the ESTABLISHED history of Bitcoin. So then the RETARDS you are referring to will just point at Bitcoin and say "LOOK, BUTTCOIN WAS ALWAYS A SCAM, LOOK IT'S NOT 21,000,000 --- IT'S 2,100,000,000,000,000!". These same RETARDS would have never gotten involved anyways and you're attempting to cater to them, for what?
Yeahh its like the exchange ..they have 1000pepe future cause it boring to enter the price you wamt buy or sell.. to many 00000000000000
Just call them “Bits” then.
Dad, buy Bits.
If there are 10 blocks, and you cannot make the blocks smaller (without some work or process), then there is no divisibility. If there are 10 gold bars, and you cannot make the gold bars smaller (without some work or process), then there is no divisibility.
16 years of "bitcoin" branding down the drain for "bits"
hurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
You can already say "Dad, buy Bitcoin." You ever explain to someone how a dollar has 100 cents, or 20 nickels, or 10 dimes, or 4 quarters? How hard is it for you to explain to someone that a whole Bitcoin is like 1 dollar and when you get pieces of Bitcoin it's like when you use change to get pieces of a dollar. You call me stupid, but you over-complicate the most trivial of tasks. You think throwing out ESTABLISHED/KNOWN facets of Bitcoin will make it easier for retards like you to explain things. The fact is, you're focusing on the wrong shit, the problem isn't SATS or BATS or fucking LATS or whatever you want to call them, the problem is you thinking there is a fucking problem. This BIP is not needed and only makes RETARDS understand less because you are re-defining ESTABLISHED terms and properties. There is no problem, you are inventing problems. You want to turn every piece of Bitcoin in to BITCOIN! NO MORE PIECES, NO MORE DIVISIBILITY, NO MORE SCARCITY! COOL STORY BRO! You claim there's a problem where there isn't one. BIP not needed.
the BIP doesn't do anything but move names around. It doesn't change any of the monetary or technical properties of bitcoin. It doesn't do anything. I advocate against it only because it is a waste of time.
Instead of this proposal, I would support a technical proposal that actually makes bitcoin more divisible. Perhaps one that allows you to trade in micro-satoshis. 1 sat = 0.1 cents is already too much for my liking.
This would be like if congress passed a law tomorrow to rename "cents" to "zeebles", then it would have no effect on the dollar. I wouldn't care, but I would be dissapointed that congress would waste time on such a suggestion in the first place, while there are real issues to be dealt with.
BUTTCOIN WAS ALWAYS A SCAM, LOOK IT'S NOT 21,000,000 --- IT'S 2,100,000,000,000,000
It was always "2,100,000,000,000,000". No one who invested in bitcoin before the name change would lose anything because their supply increased proportional to the total supply. "21 Million Forever" is an idiotic talking point anyways, and if you depend on that you should have your faith shaken.
if only science had a way to deal with such cases
dad, with $1 you can buy 10 microbitcoins (uBTC)
I fucking love science
lower the trust in the ESTABLISHED history of Bitcoin
Satoshi was perfectly fine with re-denominating Bitcoin.
bitcoin.com
Sats are too complicated. Even satoshi suggested if bitcoin's value became too large and annoying to work with the decimal point could be shifted.
Beat ya
Satoshi also advocated for increasing the block size, picrel
How about just normalize the use of satoshis as the base unit rather than redefining what a bitcorn is. I'd rather normalfags try and meme 1 sat = 1 dollar and let my bitfuck be worth tens of millions.
which makes perfect sense
Where the fuck is anyone arguing about blocksize itt?
there will ever be only 21 million bitcoins bro
Sats are too complicated
good luck explaining to people what CENTS are you SMARTASS, we should only have "dollars" to keep things simple
Everyone already knows the branding Satoshi, who is Satoshi Nakamoto? Oh sure, let's just get rid of this branding for NOTHING, while CONFUSING what a Bitcoin is. Do I have a Bitcoin, or do I have a Bitcoin? How many Bitcoins do I have, I don't know, are they Bitcoins or Bitcoins?
Satoshi is literally a pillar of the branding, doing away with Satoshi in the form of Satoshis/Sats is literally one of the worst ideas possible.
literally no one knows what a sat is. people don't understand "one hundred millionth of a bitcoin is called a sat", it's literally easier for the average person to comprehend 10 dollars is worth 0.0001 bitcoins.
this branding is not a pillar, it's a reddit idea and proponents of it are redditors.
people will never understand that one hundredth of a dollar is called a cent, one twentieth of a dollar is called a nickel, one tenth of a dollar is called a dime and one quarter of a dollar is called a quarter
Jack, have some faith in people, they're not THAT retarded, you'd know if you talked to them
Retarded midwits idea from retarded midwits. This guy's ego is ridiculous, he was a propped up deep state faggot and that will always be his official title. Bitcoin latecomer his tagline.
Calling divisible units of a Bitcoin, Satoshis, is from reddit so you should hate it, abandon it, re-brand it, confuse it
Why are you so desperate to re-define established language for an established commodity? What is your motivation to hood-wink people with KNOWN FACTS in to some CONFUSED STATE? BIP not needed, the only source of confusion is you. There is nothing confusing about divisible pieces of Bitcoin, but you want to introduce confusion about what Bitcoin IS and that there are NO PIECES of Bitcoin, everyone is a winner --- everyone gets a trophy, everyone is a Whole Coiner, isn't that just great! So simple! If I'd venture to guess you have other motivations behind this asinine bullshit than just your sketchy egalitarian veneer you keep trying to present.
Fuck stock splits, Maersk has it right, have one share be twelve thousand euros. Fuck you who cares it literally doesn’t make a difference
I literally tried to explain what a sat is couple of days ago unsuccessfully to someone I knew. if you ask someone to send you ten dollars worth of bitcoin they will have an easier time figuring it out than sending you 100 sats or whatever.
jack has a point. if bitcoin becomes more commonly used too many people will make serious mistakes with how many zeroes they are supposed to add before they make a transaction. most wallet apps are already automatic and that's one layer of mitigation. I wonder why satoshi set it this way.
sats is not an established language for bitcoin, as no one besides twitter bitcoiners (redditors) know of this lingo.
I'm not in favor of anything, I'm conflicted. do you want to trade 0.00000032 bitcoins for sending and receiving money for the foreseeable future? this BIP sort of fixes that.
I literally tried to explain what a sat is couple of days ago unsuccessfully
can't help but imagine you as a bitcoin maxi crack dealer forcing your customers to pay you in bitcoin, like how hard can it be explaining to someone who's not a crackhead that satoshi is the smallest subdivision of a bitcoin, same as what a cent is to a dollar, but unlike 100 cents being 1 dollar, 100 million satoshis is 1 bitcoin
if bitcoin becomes more commonly used too many people will make serious mistakes
then people will agree on a word to describe an integer form of bitcoin, be it sat/bitcent/nanocoin/whatever, and wallets will have an option to display your balance and transaction amounts in BTC/mBTC/uBTC/nBTC/etc making it harder to fuck it up
why redefine the established meaning/value of a bitcoin, that's a bizarre proposal
yeah I agree.
I guess my beef is with sat. if people would've agreed on mbtc I think I'd be totally fine.
Your wrong and just because you are stupid doesn't mean everyone is.
You don't need to change anything just start calling them "bitcoins."
Talking out of my ass here, but I'd venture to guess this BIP helps with some big companies back-end software and they don't want to do the work or pay for the hardware required to denominate fractions of a Bitcoin the way they are currently implemented. It's also a lot easier to commit fraud when you have to send someone some large WHOLE NUMBER like 432,900,203 (4.32900203 Bitcoin). Currently you look for the decimal point to make sure your transaction is accurate, if you remove the decimal point then it becomes more difficult to quickly assess what you're doing. Also, on a more real-world scenario, having people aspire to build up their portfolio towards 1 Bitcoin is a goal, it creates excitement and engages users in the process, it creates hope and inspires to looking forward...relegating the decimal point to the same method as memecoins is not a good look and totally crushes these types of intrinsic behaviours. BIP not needed.
all the software that works with bitcoins operates in satoshis, division by 100000000 is done in the ui to show the value to the user and nowhere else
guess that's why we have this argument, a nerd once said "ummm acshyally here in the source codes all of my bitcoins are undivided and 10^8 division in ui is arbitrary therefore acshyually I have a lot of bitcoins" but nobody cared, so the nerd got mad and now tries to enforce his nerd reality onto everyone
