The original Bancor proposal is actually exactly what would have been needed to prevent this China/US dispute. There would not have been one country with a reserve currency (like the US), but a common reserve currency that everyone uses. There would still have been national currencies like the dollar, they would have been pegged to the Bancor. But in a flexible manner that appreciates/depreciates based on trade deficits.
It would solve the Triffin dilemma and it would help rebalance trade. Of course no Trumpie would ever consider this because it came from Keynes and lefties like Keynes so it must be bad and because it must be managed supranationally which means "muh globalists" are in control which is also bad because Klaus Schwab has a funny accent or something.

Gold is actually used in electronics so buying now before they print the yuan away is a good investment.
Returning to the Gold standard would make the Yen too valuable to continue their export empire and it would make manufacturing way more expensive there too
They would need to be ready to switch to a new type of economy before switching to the Gold standard and this would happen under two conditions
-Major war where hundreds of millions of Chinese die
-They change their economy slowly at a huge cost as there will be no returns until deals are made
Them buying gold is realistically a way for them to hold value during the trade war.
And when its over they don't have to sell the gold just send it to their factories for plating technology

i unironically don't really know what's up with gold, to be perfectly honest. i know it's used to make computer hardware, but nowadays companies only use like 2 nanograms of gold dust for it, the rest is made with some cheap material they use to lease the gold with, getting a good enough result. that's it. otherwise to me gold is just retarded rocks made to make mildly expensive, luxurious items and trinkets. i need to be redpilled on it because somehow it keeps growing in value for some reason, there must be something obvious i'm missing.
