My mom is 64 and cant work a full time job without her health getting in the way.
She works seasonal jobs and she takes weeks to recover. A weekend isnt enough off time for her to stomach 40 hours a week.
She is not unhealthy, she has no disease or sickness, she is relatively fit but shes just old.
Old people have to retire in their 60s because they will simply exaust themselves and die if they don't.
Old people cant run the rat race like the rest of us can.
Everyone will be old one day and it shouldnt be up to the individual to retire themselves in old age. 500k in savings wont help you live at all in 2070 or 2080. No one wants to be a burden on their family at 60. No one wants to have to rely on gubment gibs.
But sometimes none of that can be helped and you just need the help. What now?

Here 30% of the total pop are over 60, and the figure grow like 2 percent per year because we are so near the heigh of n° boomers retiring simultaneously. It means at least a third of our population must have their lifestyle financed by 2/3rd, who are really just another third once you remove the kids, students, part timers, neets, etc..
So basically each one (1) working people must pay out of his pockets via taxes for (1) boomer. Each taxpayer have the burden of two (2) people : himself and a boomer.

honestly, I think governments should produce and distribute food, and if they subsidize farmers, they should force them to sell a % to the state or have a similar contractual arrangement
also, governments should build housing for people who are unable to pay rent
subsidized transport, healthcare and maybe even energy (to a limit)
