At current pace it would take them 16 years to reach 2B messages so seems like they did some padding here and there lmao. The discrepancy between total volume and 24h volume is way smaller: would take them 3 years to double their total volume at current pace, which seems reasonable. That makes it a way better indicator to use.

Wormhole's current total volume is according to their scan is close to $50B, while Chainlink according to Linkpool's dashboard is just north of $200m. Quite a big difference, not to mention way more reliable than some bs "amount of messages" which tells us nothing besides maybe how inefficient a protocol is at swapping.
