Imagine your bitcoin wallet is a bank like exodus or trust wallet, and your private keys represent a physical key that opens your safety deposit box at the bank. In a traditional way if you wanted to bring your money to a competitor's vault or transfer them, it requires numerous different steps to facilitate this transfer, you pay a fee, it takes about a week or two, and it has to be manually verified.
Now you have your exodus wallet with bitcoin and want to use a different wallet application because you heard there are better security features and better overall functionality. With Bitcoin your private keys are linked into the actual network granting only you access to view whats in your safety deposit box. Your wallet doesn't hold any bitcoin, meaning you don't have to manually transfer any funds at all and avoid the steps afformentioned.
If you arent all in on Bitcoin itself after reading this then you need to do some more research. And is the reason why hardware wallets are gay psyops that allows backdoor access to your bitcoin.
