republicans are rabid defenders of these laws, claiming that my granting big pharma (or any other sector) the right to a monopoly, they are incentivizing technological growth. of course the american consumer is the sucker who foots the bill
and of course these companies cannot get away with it abroad, because other countries lack these laws
trump isn't doing anything on these laws, yet he wants lower prices?
my guess is backroom agreements with the pharmaceuticals, with them increasing export prices to make up the loss from american profits, hence the random "foreigners are taking advantage of us!!!" rhetoric
the reality is that this will be a wake up call for non-americans to completely ditch their IP protections and double down on generic drug production. americans will probably not be able to comprehend what i just typed and assume i am defending big pharma
