Will the stock market reflect the supply chain collapse and empty shelves panic?

It will take time. Transitions from bull markets to bear markets are usually very violent, with lots of strong rallies at the beginning, before finally slipping into the abyss.

They're going to need to see it to believe it. This has all happened before, and it'll happen again too.

I'm scared anon.
Why did they elect him?

This week

Scarcity and inflation have been good for stocks in the past.

Is American consumers not being able to afford food bearish?

Untitled.png - 2048x2048, 1003.48K

Watched half of this. They are ignoring the fact that consumers spent a ridiculous amount of money last month. So maybe cause they were buying cars they didn't go on trips. Even if the airlines are right there have been many times they have done bad and the economy is still fine.

zoom out

I just got a chunk of cash, I hope it drops this week so I can buy some more cheapies.

trump actually thinks the other country pays the tariffs doesn't he?

I mean, he's not the only one. Ron Vara as well. And many in his fanbase. Surely so many people can't be wrong, right?

Stop buying the dip you fucking imbecile.

bizraelis are more about buying ath's.

Because SPY is insanely overvalued.

low unemployment

goys still spend money on more slop

remind me when people start losing their jobs and people stop paying for Mcgoyslop

ssh let the retard retard. Its called exit liquidity.

How do I easily find the options with the fattest premiums?

We'll see what the april data is on friday.

Nothing really happened yet, and if anything, we can expect sales and shit to be good, considering a whole lot of stock was made and people bought in droves.

hey mumu..
why did the chicken cross the road?

to get to the other side.

because
the JEWS
boughted the side
it was on
and jacked up
the rent so high
the chicken had
no choice
but to make
a run for it

lmao

Yes

Why did she do it?

she

You see, chickens don't acknowledge the road and the sides as separate entities. To a chicken it is all the same ground. If you ask why the chicken crossed the road all you are really asking, from the chicken's perspective, is why did the chicken choose to walk instead of stand still on that occasion?

why the chicken crossed the road

to eat zee bugs on the other side

it knows
the differences
in terrains

I just placed an order for one (1) $436 SPY put expiring Thursday 1st May.

Am I going to WAGMI? This is my first options purchase.

Okay but does it understand the concept of a road? Does it know the road has a specific purpose that other terrains do not? I recognize that a chicken can tell the difference between soft ground and hard but the rest of it I think not.

burg62.jpg - 1500x1914, 1.21M

Anon that is way too far off the money and way too close on expiration. I would not purchase that if I were you, and I am very bearish at the moment.

Go at least 2 weeks out, if not more, and start closer to the money. It'll cost more, but it'll actually pay out.

it may have
different interpretations
of what a things purpose is
than we do
but it still has its reasons
for what it does
in relation to those things
even if its reason
for its reasons
uses way different
reasoning

Did you mean QQQ 436 or SPY 536? Either way, think of it as a tuition payment when you see what happens.

Sorry I meant $536.

That's only like a 2% drop and I think this rally is going to collapse this week.

Do you think the chicken would give good stock advice? I think a chicken would have beaten my ytd so far.

burg0971.png - 1453x1080, 851.01K

Gotcha, at $536 you might make some money, but I would advise selling wednesday ahead of earnings. Don't hold these sorts of things to expiration, you want to sell at the bottom of the slide when there's still plenty of time left. At that time their price will be assuming the slide continues, which it obviously won't.

i heard recently that getting to 'the other side' is the colloquial meaning to get hit by a car and die.
went completely over my head

any other autism anons?

I thought DeepJeet was proven fake and ghey, using banned H200s from SMCI?

Why are airline stocks so disgustingly volatile?
American Airlines alone is down 40%+ YTD

For those who trade these stocks, any strat you would recommend?

IMG_2712.png - 716x675, 96.41K

How can I invest in this? Do we know what company is building it yet?

Untitled.jpg - 1315x1080, 216.67K

I tried during covid and gave up. I had big winners and big losers, barely made any money by the end of it.

that was openaidiot cope, it does not matter what you use to train them: you can shave off months of training time by using top hardware, but in a pinch you can train models on a pile of 3090's if you really want to

Could Ubel cut the deficit?

How do I sign up as autistic so I never pay taxes?

Watch as people learn how to directly order from China, pay the 125% tariffs and still come out cheaper than having a middleman

I see what you said there.

Futures are deep red ain't they

Trump’s China Tariffs Set to Unleash Supply Shock on US Economy

maybe we should put 0% tariff on the factories and buy them from china

Looks like the answer is plastic shortages.

Ever heard of a little event called 9/11?

everything recovers
its just a waiting game if you buy at the wrong time
i have yet to hear of any trumpenomics induced bankruptcies

Reddit is acting like it’s a full blown embargo, when in reality it just means you pay $2 for your shitty Chinese plastic widget instead of $1.

investing in yourself is never bad

HAHA TSLA is doing pretty good right nao

good luck with the return policy because of no quality controls

The "American exceptionalism is over" trade feels stale already. I don't know what to do... I think maybe sloorpchad won.

Shein and any other service reliant on de minumus or whatever packaging is dead. As for the rest... Depends how much the supply chain exists in the US.

The issue is the tariffs can be so large at the time of import at the port that small to medium sized companies don't have the liquidity to pay it. We're talking needing hundreds of thousands or millions to pay the tariffs.
Only the largest companies can front that kind of money right now.

You explain to my mom why her Nikes are now 300 dollars, not me

dur why dont they just get their inventory domestically

muh brand logo

stfu motherlover

Because they want money. The shoes actually are only worth $10 and the rest is just marketing, shipping, and retailing.

just pay double for all your shit bro

MIGAtards are fucking hopeless.

Do you remember when your cult leader told us he'd get rid of taxes, but instead he put tariffs on everything and then created the ERS to invent all kinds of new taxes, but didn't actually cancel any taxes? Because that was last week.

Oh well they'll just absorb it into margin then :) Staying fully invested

its funny how bad the media has framed everything
the nigger has literally raised taxes
on everyone

HAHA TSLA is doing pretty good right nao

That's pretty normal, after all they only lost $2 billions last quarter, missed their earnings by 30%, their sales dropped 50% in Europe, leftards are setting tesla dealerships on fire, China is producing the same crap for 20% of the price and the brand new tesla gigafactory is about to be forced to stop manufacturing new cars because they are out of magnets.
With such avalanche of good news it's kinda expected the ticker gain 10% daily.
*honk honk*

1656372125719.jpg - 1024x768, 146.87K

The thing is too that by causing prices to raise drastically, consumers are going to shut the fuck down. They're going to clam up and pinch every penny. Retailers are going to get destroyed, not only by having empty shelves, but by having all the rest of their products priced sky high, whether it be tariffs, greedflation, or a combination of the two.
Moreover, consumers are going to be hoping that tariffs just end one day, either from Trump folding like we hope he does, or from Congress getting a spine, or perhaps even from court cases winding through the system now declaring his tariffs overbroad or unconstitutional (seeing as the "emergencies" are near farcical justification for tariffs on virtually every nation on the planet, which raises the Major Questions doctrine). Consumers will wait and buy only essentials.

is it me or are all the talking heads on social media starting to sound very "two more weeks, patriots in control" about the imminent market collapse?

We probably wouldn't be hearing this if he hadn't done his tweet about tariffs replacing income tax.
If he's going to reduce them greatly, then how will they replace income tax? If he's going to make deals then how will tariffs stick around to replace income tax?
None of it makes any fucking sense, so the market is going to react to that uncertainty.

The poor don't drive the economy any more. The high income wage slaves do. They are still buying cars and spending $500 a month at Costco.

well i did recover my position so theres that
not to mention everything you posted has a counter point
youre working off of old news

nah, shitters on x the everything app are now doing date trajectories about how the last ships from china are due in this week and therefore the bottom falls out of everything in two or three weeks

Trump never makes sense. He talks big and in the end does nothing. He was supposed to help the little guy and not take the advice from the JP Morgan CEO.

I know, I've been keeping track of that. I don't think it will work out that way, really. It'll be more of a slow burn from west to east coast across the course of a month or so.
I do think we will see some empty shelves in stores, though. My understanding is that certain items like toys or board games are likely fucked. We'll be okay with computers and some other devices due to the exemptions, but at the same time some electronic devices that don't fall into those categories won't likely get stocked (I don't know, toasters/blenders, something like that category).

Its gonna be weird to experience the covid economy, except without covid

thinking this

if the CEO of walmart is telling me shelves are going empty in a month, i think i should believe the CEO of walmart

be honest with me /smg/
are my TSLA puts cooked?

The car numbers are obviously reflecting rental agencies, governments, and corporate fleets that forecast needing new units buying in before the tariffs hit and make cars 25%+ more expensive

it's just a prank bro

miggers say this for literally everything even when trump outright says "im serious im not joking". absurd coping mechanism

Holy shit a politician said he was serious about something???

It's just you. Trust the plan.

Its gonna be weird to experience the covid economy, except without covid

It's funny that most countries in the world did a heavy-handed response to covid which in hindsight, wasn't necessary.
As if they wanted to normalize scarcity of supplies and public services, enforcing lots of rules to restrict freedom, closed borders, very little travel, people depending on handouts.

We slid from:

Trump is going to reverse course before any damage materializes

to:

ports are closing down, damage will be felt by the entire economy, once that happens Trump will reverse course

In about 1 week.

bobo massacre tomorrow?

when did you buy it?

I heil Hitler nigga.

How many of these are just retards with no concept of managing money?

SOXL bros.... don't look.....

lmfao. I cant wait.

IMG_5745.png - 750x1334, 142.84K

why are you holding a 3x long term lol

Wolfanon, I believe you. I'll put a grand into your shitcoin stock

This wee or soon after for earnings report to sink and news on 'guidance' promises to ware off. Tsla popped 51 points on the 8th before giving it all of it all back nearly a week later on 21st before earnings. Its going to keep repeating this behavior so I hope you bought yourself some time for it to downtrend after all this exit pumping and retail slurping

VIX still below 30

nothingburger, pump continues

We are gonna need some catchy name for whoever team Trump trots out to be the economic equivalent of pic related

baghdad_bob.jpg - 1472x832, 89.87K

where would it go.

Thats a remarkably complex question in many ways, but the simple answer is that politics as usual just wasn't working for most Americans, which caused a majority to sit the election out and a small minority to vote in trump
Importantly, trump should be viewed as the symptom of a wider, as yet unaddressed problem that will persist well after he leaves office or dies

Some no doubt, but not all

The tentativeness of the euro green opening, like a deer just tiptoeing out after the guns have stopped firing. The hunters have not moved, nothing has changed, but it's so hard in this copse without water. maybe if I just go out, maybe it will go back to how it was before. thats right, imagine the FOMO when everyone is slurping. slurping without YOU. things are 0.4% better than they were on friday, right bongs? don't be skittish

This year is making me realize bulls were just retarded all along. When you see things like Tesla showing a 70% drop in profits and still pumping 30% any intelligent person will realize what's coming.

There is going to be a crash. This is untenable.

I mean bears are best known for killing undefender campers and eating all their sandwiches for free, while bulls are best known for beating themselves to death against red cars. we should have realised sooner

All sentiment, once people realize it's crashing all the bulls will suddenly turn into bears.
But seriously I saw a statistic last year that the s&p 500 was 3x overvalued. Unsustainable number.

the issue is, overvaluation is relative. euro stocks don't perform so strong because of financial balkanisation, japan has been stagnant for a long time, china is hugely interventionist and business unfriendly when it wants to be, and everywhere else is too small or too poor. im all in on euro stocks but there are serious doubts about returns even if the euro did suddenly manifest being the global reserve currency. american exceptionalism persists because there is some truth in it

no the euro doesnt have infinite rapid growth because there is no plan to keep the euro as a currency.
the point of the euro is not value. we use the eurodollar to hedge against risk. You have the financial understanding of Greece

It's mostly the tech stocks, once that pops the rest of the stock market might follow.

american exceptionalism persists because there is some truth in it

Right now maybe, but it is not a reason to value tesla at 150 p/e. And one day the united statesians luck will run out like all empires before it. Look at how hard Britain fell in just a century.

there is no plan to keep the euro as a currency

wait what? what is the alternative, I've never heard anyone in the ECB or the commission ever mention any plans to get rid of the euro

the point of the euro is not value. we use the eurodollar to hedge against risk. You have the financial understanding of Greece

what is your point here, none of this conflicts with what i said afaik

it's not about removing the euro, we do not have a european system setup to control the value of our money the way the federal reserve does in america. this was never the purpose for the euro.
our companies use the dollar for that reason. so we cannot be a global reserve currency, people would rather buy gold to carry around with backpain

will this green last?

Captcha : a d0sh

the ecb acts very similarly to the fed. the euro was quite explicitly pitched as an alternative to the dollar when it was unleashed, it just didn't take off

magpie not being a complete dick

Or was just it his nest was on the right side of the road and he was getting him away from it?

They are forecasting tourism being down, the economy was shit before Trump got into office he just turned HIV to AIDS. Also, Aerospace and Defense (focusing on AS) sources parts from across the globe. Despite back and fourth on tariffs it seems like things are still rocking between the United States and China, and may prevent planes being built as they as cheaply or quickly as they once were, which hurts your airlines bottom lines.

Nobody wants to travel to America and risk getting sent to el savaldor.

Hahaha

There are people on here still talking about buying cheapies, all indexes of ho indicators show street level peasants are still trying to enter into markets and average down expecting things to bounce back and give them large returns in a short amount of time. The bull thesis in this sense is self perpetuating, even if smart money has realized whats coming, there are plenty that will slow the inevitable collapse or attempt to pick up pennies before the steam roller. If one buys the thesis that tariffs are good for the American market then they think they are investing at a great entry level. We haven't even gotten through the reactions to the consequences that are coming, nor have we actually gotten feedback from these consequences. The market will stay retarded a bit longer, even if we dip this week, millions will buy the dip.

Ok Warren Buffet

I worked on a egg hatchery. The cockerels would wait until the basket was full of eggs before attacking me hoping that one would fall out and break so they could eat it. Cockerels are bastards and all it would take for them to understand that road + car = death is to see another chicken get hit.

The actual problem is that not everything is worth what its purchaser will pay for it
Things can be SOLD for what a purchaser will pay for it but there is clearly such a thing as underlying value and productivity. Right now the stock market is basically in its own universe completely detached from fundamentals, and you can make a ton of money if you can guess which way it goes, but no VALUE is being created. So much of the nominal economy is in the stock market and other value extraction sectors that it's become self-sustaining for a time, the same shit happened in '29 and '08 unironically when people weren't even able to buy and productivity was falling off a cliff and yet still the markets climbed higher.

Thank God for the hatchery.
