Europe, and germany, has EU-Law that demands that if you want to sell AND ship something to the buyer, you have to register with TWO dubious organisations, tell them at the beginning of each year, how many packages you gonna send and pay these organisations upfront, based on your calculations, for each single package. This concept is named LUCID. Fun goes on, if you want to sell something to another country, you have to register for this country as well and pay there as well. FOR EACH AND EVERY COUNTRY, even if it is just a single package you shipping.
Its not only the cost, but the burocratic stuff as well.
They pretend this is because you supposedly are the person, who introduces package materials into the economy and supposedly this is somehow to protect the environment.
Note how there is no mindest-amount, it starts with one package. notice also how they dont tax the producer of package material but you as a seller, even though actually its the producer who introduces the package materials into the market.
For small businesses this is not only a tax, or a tariff if you want, but its a lot of burocratic effort (registering with these PRIVATE organisations for each country you want to sell, there is not even a single europe-wide organisation you could register to have less work, which is extra weird considering this is an eu law).
this is clearly designed to block small sellers and hinder them so big corporations have less competition from the "peasants".
So why should i care about trumps tariffs? why should i believe eu-burocrats, pretending their whining about trumps tarrifs is genuineley about their care about the economy and free trade? they only care about big corporations, but actively hinder small competitiors from participating in the markets, with evil laws like lucid packaginig law.
they only whine now because the tariffs may cost their big corpo friends some pocket money. but they dont whine and reee and scream about something affecting regular people.
