If you are actually looking for a wage slave job try anything in communications/data. Cable installers and techs are entry level jobs and in some cases with high turnover. Depending on your location much of the current and future growth is driven by state and federal investment in rural broadband. Because of this much of the plant is already paid for and under tight time tables to keep this money. This means they cannot sit around and wait for the best candidate, for there is none, and will still be hiring throughout the coming recession/depression. High turnover because these jobs suck, are marginally physically demanding and pay is often piecework so sitting in your truck doing nothing leads to poverty, though I knew guys that still did it. If you are willing to grind this will allow you to avoid homelessness. I was pulling 1k a week take home before I left, like 7 years ago, but I was probably the highest earner in my shop at that time. I was top of the board for completed jobs among other metrics, paywise there was many shakey weeks before that period of time. This money uncertainty and working 6 days a week is another reason for high turnover. But it pays better than a retail mcslave if you try, and it's a great place for the young and desperate.
