I'm speaking as someone who worked in the industry.The golden era of "just get a tech degree and you will make it" ended around 2014 at the latest. Wages have remain stagnant, applicant pool is heavily saturated and most of your coworkers will not be American. This is all without taking into account the massive layoffs that occurred over the past 2 years. I wouldn't bother going to college accure debt just to end up working sole random wagecuck service job which is what the majority of recent college grads(including stem) are doing.

The problem is that the general public has been rused into thinking that blue collar work = bad and college = good so there aren't enough tradesmen.
