Renting is the biggest scam of the century...

Renting is the biggest scam of the century. Charging to temporarily occupy a space at 80% of what it would cost to own that same space should be criminal

#LearnToLandlord

80% of the value sure.
No giant mortgage loan to be enslaved to
No need to do any maintainence or deal with utility issues
Can leave whenever and not stuck until the rented space is sold
No dealing with anything outside, lawns are mowed, trees are trimmed
It's mostly just how lazy you are and if you want to be tied down or not

i can't be tied down i'm a fuckin dire wolf. a fuckin unstoppable lightning ninja

where the hell are u renting for 80 percent
fuck that

i rent a room for 750 in a house

WOWWWWW 800K ON 5K A MONTH 12X12 BOX IN NEW YORK CITY?!?!?!?!?! WHERE DO I SIGN????

Okay genius then what would be a fair alternative that wouldn't steal billions of dollars from current property owners?

Renting is an infinite money glitch.. you can buy a house for say 100k. Rent it out for 2k a month for theoretically forever. After the tenants live there for 50 months they basically payed for the house. But they still keep paying. Nothing else works like this when you finance a car you pay off the value of the car then you own it. And landlords can only get away with this because people dont have a choice. You need a place to live and can't afford to buy a house. All landlords deserve to be executed

80% sounds like a crazy expensive market. In my shithole I can barely get away with 40% of what the mortagage would be in my rentals.

great, nobody is forcing you to rent.

After the tenants live there for 50 months

you really think we are all going to be here in 5 years? nice 5 year plan stalin

Yes because houses don't require maintainence, property tax, or repairs lol it'll take twice that time to get even close to paying it back, plus you get all that income taxed as well when you claim.

Even with your little expenses it's still infinite money

What is your alternative? It's such a Reddit trait to criticise something in society without giving an alternative

Your actually paying 200% of what it cost me to own. That is with property taxes, maintenance, and 80% occupancy accounted for.

The property was acquired more than 10 years ago when property prices were half what they are now. And you have not factored in the fact that I refinanced at interest rates of 2.5%. Basically free money since inflation is never less than 3%. You guys have no idea how fucked you really are but keep voting in laws that make new housing imposable to build because i don't care anymore.

pay the rent, rentoid
don't forget to tip

Why should we avoid that?

It's a safe investment, sure money. Unless the house it's in a shithole, obviously the location it's important. It exists, you can live in it, not imaginary money

Most people are taught that stealing is wrong.

says the guy that won't let people buy property, only 70 years leases

private property is theft

After the tenants live there for 50 months they basically payed for the house

50 months of my rent wouldn't pay for ANY properties in my city. Try 300 months for a tiny house really far out (I'm not Amerifat and in my country we put the poor people in the outskirts unlike you weirdos who make the rich/middle class people live far away for some reason).

If you're going to go full commie you should at least be aware enough to understand that private property in that context means business property that the collective uses to create profit so that the ownership class doesn't steal from workers. It does not mean
private housing owned by individuals.

I like you man you seem like a fun guy

A house or apartment is not a need.

The making housing impossible to build rules came from boomers pulling the ladder up from underneath them, it was getting bad in 2019, got worse when all these businesses took out PPP loans to allow them to pay their way through the rules and have their loans entirely forgiven

high interest loans are worse by a mile. You're no better off renting than taking out a mtg @ 8%

same idea behind leasing a car vs "BuYiNg" @ > 12%

It started long before that with an endless train of permits and regulations
They nuked cities because we needed "diversity", and pricing undesirables out is the only legal way to discriminate

housing is collectivized in communism lol. I know what private property means in marxist terminology.

This. You can put a mortgage on a house, not ever pay, leave, rinse and repeat. Just give the next bank a sob story. City will just auction off your old house when the neighbors complain about 20 ft weeds in the front yard and squatters inside. They'll auction off your house, some bank will will make money in it again

I'm a landlord and a renter and a crypto-neet
There are valid reasons to rent. I might buy in this area I might not gonna try it out first and keep my options open.

Anyway stop being poor and just buy if you want to. You don't HAVE to rent.

You are crossing streams. Communism does not inherently require communal housing (see: literally any country that has done it in the past, unless you're one of those "real communism has never been tried" people) and neither have anything to do with private property in a communist context.

I got u senpai

Most rent in the US is no more than 2-4% of the price of the property.

housing is more efficiently allocated if decommodified

It's just a little dividend and comes with a fuckton of headaches. Actually rich investors prefer to leave investment properties empty since if it's going to grow by 10% each year then 2-4% dividend is nothing. Only overleveraged poorfags who need the ""cashflow"" rent out their real estate.

Agreed. If only I could miraculously $40,000 for a down payment on a house

Real richfag landlords hide behind administrative layers so they don't have to deal with rentoids and have property managers do the grunt work.

taxation

repairs

bad tenants

Renting a 100k for 2k

risk of area negrification

A lot of modern landlords are Tate tier entrepreneurs.
Housing is fucked, there is absolutely nothing sustainable about the housing market.
If "landlords" were not braindead retarded they would have invested in commercial property.

Literally no it is not. Look at council housing in England. Look at rent control in San Francisco. Look at housing supply in Austin TX in the last ten years.

The ONLY way to solve housing """crises""" is with commodification of housing.

80% of what it would cost to own that same space

Rents exceed mortgage rates because they're bought on mortgages; which should realistically be banned at this point, the same way subletting already is.

are you retarded? literally every single communist country has collectivized housing. I never said communal, don't get confused. The biggest exception is modern China having real estate developers but you remember what happened a few years ago when they took over a giant when their behavior was unfavorable.

those aren't examples of decommodification, your argument falls apart.

that wasn't REAL decommodification

You have no argument, everything you try fails, and you're poor. Want to be mayor of chicago?

whats scammy about it really tho? theres a lot of money saved that you can invest

Short of some terrorism driven revolution where city/county officials are killed until various permits effectively become "shall issue" there's no way to fix rent being high.
You either build enough housing for demand or you don't.

Recession bankrupting overleveraged landlords.

Extreme increase to taxation of rent income with simultaneous allowance to rentoids for their primary residency.

Obliteration of airbnb through taxation.

Remigration

No need to do any maintainence or deal with utility issues

be real, nigger, no landlord ever does maintenance

houses are for living in, nigger

renting is best best. i pay someone a fixed fee to stay in there house. I don't have to buy my own washer, dryer, fridge, beds, mattresses, cookers, boiler, dishwasher, couches, tables or chairs or bedroom furniture i get to shit the place up and call it reasonable wear and tear, if anything breaks i just call them up like a bitch, and the money i save i can put into stocks or bitcoin to save for my retirement? fucking baller. I don't need a house with all that overhead, i am a remote worker i can just uo sticks and move to another fully renovated house in a location of my choosing and shit that up too. right now im by the seaside, next year i might be in a city. landlords are literally the biggest suckers in the world. hahahaha

No dealing with anything outside, lawns are mowed, trees are trimmed

Bullshit. I'm a landlord and the residents do their own maintenance

by that same logic, going to work or starting a business is an "infinite money glitch" you retard.

Also, I'm a property manager and you have NO IDEA how much of a pain in the ass it is to be a landlord, renters are so stupid and destructive it makes me want to pursue other careers.

Stop living in slums. Any decent apartment manager is extremely on top of maintenance because that's how you keep the property value up and good tenants on their lease.

Well you tried, but still failed

It wouldn't be a problem if big corpos didn't buy up all the useful land and houses.

hello anon, rent is going up

oh, you don't agree? you're getting kicked out

what do you mean you want maintenance?

what do you mean you don't wanna pay these random fees?

fuck you
inb4

none of that happens to me

you're living in a fantasy land, idiot

that's how you keep the property value up

why the fuck would i want that?

I've negotiated my rent DOWN twice, and before living on my own my parents also negotiated the rent of our previous house down. Skill issue.

1. Because you can borrow against the value of the house to buy more properties to rent, so keeping the house in good repair is real money in your pocket
2. Because a well maintained property can be rented out for more, to better people.

Anon I'm sorry to say but it REALLY sounds like you're living in a slum. Good apartments just don't do stuff like you're saying. For like $500 more per month you could probably stay somewhere much nicer.

Like I'm paying $1450/month right now, but I could also have the same square footage for $800 in a very shitty part of town, with a very poorly rated landlord. It was absolutely worth an extra $650/month to stay somewhere nice, with better neighbors. Just the fact that there are cheaper options available it's like a magnet pulling bad neighbors away from me.

HEY RETARD, IF I'M LIVING IN RENT, AND THE PROPERTY VALUE GOES UP, MY RENT GOES UP, NOT EVERYONE IS A LANDLORD, YOU RETARDED FUCKING FAGGOT

I'm paying $1450/month

you're getting scammed, simply put. you're an idiot. and you allow yourself to be scammed because - you know it too - you're an idiot. not only are you an idiot, but you're a PROUD idiot

an entire family living in rent

lmfao gypsy lifestyle

We're talking about why LANDLORDS would want to keep the property value up. Obviously slum residents don't care and in fact prefer shitty slums because they're cheaper.

Dude why don't you just buy a crackhouse and live in it then? They go on auction all the time, totally fucked up, just like you like it.
