Capitalism cannot work so long as any part of the population has morality. Regardless of social class, there always comes exploitation of another that will be either defended by those directly exploiting them or opposed by those with morals. Not even religion can genuinely survive in it, only perverted echos by the greedy exploiting it still survive.

They know if they teach the skill, no matter how vacuous or useless but needed for boomer social-proof (e.g. using a fax machine) then the young people have a higher chance of taking their job. These are usually skills that can't really be taught by schools, better taught by experience.
It's the same reason all those surveys show the boomers don't want the next generation to enjoy any of "their" wealth.
It's the same reason why boomer managers refuse to pay reasonable entry level salaries.
They, by default, refuse to teach a new generation their skills. They want it all for themselves.
Having worked with GenX too, I know that
GenX is similar, they don't like to teach younger generation either, but the reasoning is different. Growing up under a boomer parent who wouldn't teach them, GenX wants the younger generation to have the same tough hard-time learning that they did. GenX is a strange mixture of sympathy with younger generations with the requirement that they at least suffer the boomer problems too.
It's like the crazy boomer story of walking uphill both ways to the library. and that having to angry-walk somehow "builds character". But unlike boomers, for gen x, it's not just a story they tell to keep younger generations out of the boomer areas of power...
Often, there's a GenX requirement to watch you fail that you must show them before they will teach you the right way to do the skill. Because they had to fail before you.

Boomers are resistant to change too, which means we have a lot of unapplied technology and tools that zoomers can use to improve things. When boomers start to leave, the U.S. will change rapidly.
millennials, young millennials and by extension even gen z (from millennial/boomer parents). Boomers hold over half of US wealth so the flow to younger generations will be significant.
