Yeah i will admit he keeps this place from becoming a circlejerk

I have wondered before if he's secretly pro-metals and is just false flagging. Even if he's not the result is the same, and I'm grateful for the bumps. If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't be the most active general on the board.

false flagging

Imagine wanting the price to go up so you can buy less metals.

i mean i just keep him filtered

I'm already stacked and ready for the pump, but I'm not in too much of a rush, so I don't mind if things slow roll for a bit and my fellow /pmg/ bros can stack up a bit more.

thinking it's been a while since I picked up some gold

go look for a nice 20 Franc or 20 Kronen coin

wtf, when did these hit ~$700

check spot price on gold

almost $3400

Hard to believe that it was only $1600 per ozt 30 months ago. Are we gonna hit $4k spot this year? Almost feels like I should be converting my entire savings to PMs at this point.

I just realized I can convert quite a bit of assets this year before hitting capital gains and the state of world has me feeling dumb enough to ask advice from autists. Would it be retarded to run out right now and order like 20k of gold, or would it be better to average it over months or years, or buy something else altogether

8b7.jpg - 680x680, 62.54K

No way to know for sure. I bought 4 buffalos recently, so like $14k, my net worth is close to $200k. I'm probably about 50% in PMs, but I'm retarded and make big moves like that sometimes. I can't really recommend anything, you gotta make that call for yourself. I'm mostly in silver though for the potential upside.

no tungsten cube

This.
If it weren't for the ankle-biters, I would know he exists only by his first post.

Pic related.
i remember posting this and getting roasted by /pmg because of the premiums i paid, which is a fair thing to say, but I had the cash and I never buy high premium stuff but i really wanted these.
Insane price action in 18 months. Unprecedented in many ways.

$40.png - 1160x908, 1.83M

the pre '33 stuff may be exempt from confiscation as collectible so you can legally use it to buy stuff so not really a waste on premiums as a contingency

We wont have confiscation etc... we will have full blown shit hitting the fan so i'm not too concerned about 'compliance' in that sense.

the pre '33 stuff may be exempt from confiscation as collectible

I've heard this as well but I'm interested to hear other takes regarding confiscation.
Can it realistically happen today? Would people even comply? How would the government respond to a simple "nah I don't have any gold" reaction? Can they do much against claims of boating accidents?

Can it realistically happen today?

Yes. The current admin has flouted constitutional law already, therefore literally anything is possible.

Would people even comply?

Probably, depending on the form of the gold and who has it. The risk with holding US coinage is, they're date-stamped. Coins of certain dates could become illegal to possess, such as the 1933 gold Eagle. You would want to have turned in such pieces while you still could. But if/when it becomes legal to own PMs again, there could be no cause for seizure if you have foreign coins which never had a ban.You could sell them with no hassle.

How would the government respond to a simple "nah I don't have any gold" reaction?

They could seize dealers' records and investigate the fate of the gold you've bought.

Can they do much against claims of boating accidents?

If you lose gold in a boating accident, you'd be a moron to have not had it insured. They could investigate whether such claims were filed. You'd also have to come up with a plausible reason for have a hoard of gold on a trip where you could lose it so easily. They could go so far as to send a team to investigate the site, though they would really have to have it in for you to do that. Ultimately, it's not as easy to lie as you might think.

Are there any good 'what not' dealers to check? I heard I get $15 free if I buy something there.

IMG_0927.jpg - 900x675, 95.88K

This is why I keep my cash purchased PMs in a seperate location. I don't think confiscation will happen, but if it does, they can only take the stuff I bought online with a paper trail. I wouldn't give in right away either, I've found that in life, you can get pretty far by just dragging your feet on things like that. Wait as long as you can possibly wait and the rules might change or it might never be enforced. Happens much more than you'd think.

I posted three slabbed $10 gold eagles several years ago that I bought before some of the people on this board were even an itch in their daddy's ball sack and heard a bunch of shit about it.

If they were going to confiscate I don't think they would give a shit about exempting anything. That said I do not think that they can or will confiscate because it would not be worth the trouble for most of us. Stackers are armed and understand whats coming and what's at stake. If some ultra high net worth person had a huge horde of gold that would be different but our amounts would probably be considered small potatoes.

Most likely what will happen is they will draw out the financial collapse as long as possible (think Weimar but very long and very slow) so we are eventually forced to sell our precious metal to survive. That's how a central banker would fight a war.

Nice. My dad just sent me a bunch of silver dollars that he had kept from when he was a kid. They cost $1 at the time and today go 475 in Ms65 condition

I love pre 33 and if you can get it for 10-20% premium go for it... it's not the whole stack but a few collectibles are worth it.
$1 for silver dollars... the 1960's still had silver currency in circulation, I would have loaded up.

Do you have any cool gold jewelry?

Here's the fanciest ring I currently own, a cameo signet ring in 18K with this unusual image of a human feeding a swan.

It was my grandmother's which my mother gave to me a number of years ago when I first started expressing an interest in PMs/jewelry. But we're not sure where she got it. We think probably on a trip to Greece in the 1970s. Got it resized, and the bottom of the cameo filled by a jeweler, and discovered that it's 18K green gold not yellow gold, which is an alloy of Gold and Silver.

goldring.png - 1356x542, 1.37M

After trying to understand the image I found that it's an adaptation of this sculpture depicting the myth of Zeus and Ganymede by Albert Bertel Thorvaldsen, a prominent Danish sculptor who worked in Italy in the early 1800s.

Yet in that myth, and in the sculpture, Zeus appeared as an Eagle, who then took Ganymede to Olympus to be his cup bearer (and presumably underage male sex slave). In the ring it's a swan, which brings to mind the legend of zeus and leda, where zeus appeared as a swan to seduce Leda, which caused her to become pregnant with the future Helen of Troy. But this image is entirely different from any depiction of that legend, which ancient or modern were always highly sexualized, often depicting explicit sex acts. I much prefer the quiet intimacy of the image on this ring

zeus eagle.png - 879x658, 904.38K

Found an old listing for a similar ring on an antique jewelry/estate sale website, but no info about it sadly.

goldring2.png - 1321x658, 2.02M

got it in Greece

That is without a doubt one of the worst places in the world to be buying jewelry with the gypsy population.

.t former boss was Greek and told me that gypsies go completely unchecked there.

ITS A TOTAL FREAKSHOW IM LAUGHING I SHOULDNT BE LAUGHING BUT IM LAUGHING

greg lick.png - 1740x1037, 1.55M

What would likely happen is that the Gov would offer incredible deals for gold holders. For instance, most new mortgages are issued with a VA or Fannie/freddie Mac guarantee. The Gov could say, for instance, "We will issue 100K debt relief per ounce of gold bullion". Same thing for student loans. That would suddenly make gold worth up to and including 100K per ounce on the open market.

I've had it XRF tested, it's genuine.

Anons, I want to convert a bunch of my USD into something else before the economy crashes and the dollar becomes Zimbabwe tier.
Question though: How the fuck do you go about converting your precious metal back into currency when the time comes? Obviously dealers are going to want to make a profit when they're buying the stuff off you, right?
How do you avoid getting ripped off?

This is the form 'confiscation' would take in the present day, especially if it were to happen under a Republican president.

Uh... gold and silver ARE money, I'm hoping all western nations go back to that soon. That said, most places you can get close to spot in fiat for good bullion.
In the old days you'd take your bullion to the Mint and they'd change it coin of the realm for a nominal % fee, that's seignorage.

1000000187.jpg - 1024x1536, 373.67K

maybe turn some into swiss francs or something else that isnt tanking

Yeah I was planning on buying Euros as well. I intend to do like 10-15k in gold as a backup "oh fugg id's really habbening" fund and another $20k in foreign currency.

I couldn't remember if I kept the receipt but I did.

talk about cheapies

882

cheap

It wouldn't hurt to build up a repertoire with an LCS near you so that they are more likely to treat you well. Loyalty and respect go both ways. You could also buy gold/silver via Kinesis or some other online vaulting service of your choice as it's easier to sell that way. Same for proxies of gold/silver via mining/royalty stocks. Depends on your risk tolerance. Putting 100% of your net worth into metals is unwise for the reason you describe.

what's the point of these?

Pays $290

Has $1700 now

Yeah idk i guess theres no fucking point get the fuck out of here lmfao

Each one of those coins is nearly a half ounce of gold. He bought three for 882... he has 1.5 ounces now, worth $5100

I think I'm about done with my Reichstack. I ended up with 550 2RM and 100 5RM (not all pictured here). Most are Hindenburgs but 50 of the 2RM are Potsdam church, as are 30 of the 5RM (20 with date). I don't know what I should focus on next but I'm probably going to just buy 90%, either Franklins or walking liberty halves. Any other ideas? I still need to make a proper windmill of course.

reichstack.png - 1452x1089, 3.05M

he has $5100

he has some random iphone image

I have a box that weighs 400 kilos and is worth north of half a million dollars and I don't have an iphone image.
The box is still real and so is that guy's receipt and gold.

ops pic

why is silver so fugly

Why is silver left out of the Jim Roger's book on commodity investing?

Why are 1oz bars standardized but 1000oz comex bars poured with 15% variance?

Why are aesthetic element cubes so ugly for silver?

Gee, I wonder....

It's expensive to me desu

MS 61 1881-83 $10 gold liberties are selling for $1700

source?

You should have at least an ounce of gold.

That's the melt value.
Nobody gives a fuck about the fucking numismatic stuff anymore, Americans are completely bankrupt I wouldn't buy anything collectible that has a high historicity or condition premium; you won't recoup.

Silver is about to move i can feel it. I wish i could have bought more sub $20... but I did buy a lot.

Menger.png - 1370x1814, 3.82M

I have a 50g 24k chain that I bought a couple weeks ago. It has a piece of jade permanently attached to the clasp as a pendant. I figure it has 40g of 24k. I paid 6200 Canadian plus tax. Good deal desu.

My goals this year are:

100g 24k Cuban bracelet (Chinese call it a cowboy bracelet)

100g 24k chain

ok thanks, but that's what the exchanges are selling it for. What are they buying them at? That was always my issue with PM bullion and numismatics, I felt like too much money was going out the window buying and selling from dealers, and I didn't feel comfortable selling on ebay or trying to find buyers on places like craigslist because I was too worried about getting ripped off and losing my entire investment.

i remember you, jade-gold-jewellery-purchaser-anon...
I like the idea of 24k chains also... not a lot of businesses outside of the east actually traffic in 24k

download.jpg - 316x159, 12.14K

Nice, would love to see pics if you have any. Do you wear it often? I was under the impression that 24k jewelry is really more ornamental or for rare occasions, since it breaks easily due to gold's softness.

In china 100g of 24k is the minimum to be respected.

IMG_0438.jpg - 1184x1441, 421.52K

Lowest i can get is grams, but i've considered silver instead

I live in a 40 percent Chinese city so there is lots of 24k floating around and there’s a Chinese jewelry shop that I like that exclusively sells 24k. They think I’m rich and whenever I go there they show me the gold Rolexes, HEAVY chains, etc.

Yeah, I’m wearing it as we speak. In the summer with the sun shining it feels great. Price says 6800 because they did an automated price increase after I bought it. I paid around 6200 and after tax 6822

IMG_0439.jpg - 586x868, 186.35K

How bad of a haircut does Ebay give you when you sell on there? I see the same grade 1881-> 83 coins going for way more than 1700. I'll never sell but if I had to, if I had no other choice what happens. I guess they automatically send your info to the IRS too?

40 percent chinese? It's not in China then?
24k gold is just far superior for jewellery, bowls etc... only coinage should be 90% etc

Will gold dump now that inflation is the lowest it has been since 2015?

all in silver then, don't wait too long anon make it a priority.
our timeline is in months not years now

I’ll add there’s a pajeet that owns a MacDonald’s near my house and I sometimes see him strutting around with a 300g+ Thai baht chain. His chain is one of the few that really makes me jelly.

Vancouver. The most Chinese city in the west. The only good things about the city is the beautiful sea wall where you can cycle, the large amounts of 24k jewelry available, and the good YOUNG Asian prostitutes. The jewelry store I go to is literally next to the best Chinese massage parlour in the city.

How bad of a haircut does Ebay give you when you sell on there?

13.6%, it's absurd. Also if your buyer does a chargeback or claims they didn't get the item but did ebay won't help you. You'll have to sue them yourself.

At that point you're better off just getting fleeced by a dealer. The only way to win is to actually find someone you know who is willing to buy at spot or higher, but good luck with that.

I live in Canada. The 13% seller fee was already pretty bad but then the government of Canada changed the tax laws. I live in Ontario and tax on goods is 13%. I sold something to a guy for $550 and i only pocketed about $400. I will never use ebay again. Despite all the money they make you pay they outsource all their IT and customer support to a bunch of mouthbreathing retards in India that can't speak English.

Price is in Canadian dollars. I think after tax it’s about 13 percent over spot. Best you can get here. Chinese jewellers selling secondhand 24k generally sell for 25 percent over spot

Pic related is a ring they showed me. 32g of 18k with 4 carats of invisible set diamonds. Didn’t have the money sadly

The only way to win is to actually find someone you know who is willing to buy at spot or higher, but good luck with that

Literally less than a half a mile away from where my ass is sitting in this chair someone met a dude on craigslist who wanted to but the vintage sneakers he was selling and got murdered for them.

meet me down by the railroad tracks Sunday afternoon after the lumber yard closes

What could go wrong?

what were they asking?

$5200 canadian

Thanks for the tips btw. I think I'll look into local dealers and see what their prices are.

Traxnyc had a bunch of invisible set bracelets he was clearing out a year ago and ended up melting them. Wish I had bought one but shipping invisible set pieces is risky since they are so fragile
