I visited a "shitty unskilled manufacturing job" site yesterday for a BBQ party. Spoke to many of the workers. They make helicopter repair tools. Every one of them has been trained to operate cnc machines, repair the machines, operate lathes, weld, powder coat parts, etc. they all know 3D software for programming the cnc machines and 3D printing parts. All their training is provided by the company and they have a valid certification program that allows them to take their training and credentials elsewhere if they decide to move or change jobs. More than half of the workers are enrolled in mechanical engineering courses and the company is paying for their college tuition. All this and they make $37 an hour with benefits.
