Unrealized capital gains tax on crypto incoming for Danes. Keep in mind that Denmark, like most other countries, has a reverse burden of evidence in tax cases. This means that if you're Danish and you bought some crypto 10 years ago on a KYC exchange, and spent it on drugs or just lost the keys or whatever, you're now fucked for life because the government will demand >40% tax on unrealized gains every single year forever since you can't prove you don't have access to the crypto.

eurocucks once again proving how very cucked they are.

Yeah. This is truly next-level insanity. It's actually worse than just straight up making crypto illegal.

i'm honestly surprised more countries that are hostile to crypto have not gone down this route yet.

Meanwhile in India

The gains incurred by trading crypto assets are taxed at a rate of 30% and 4% cess, according to Section 115BBH. While Section 194S states that a 1% TDS will be deducted on the transfer of crypto assets from July 01, 2022.

I have never paid any tax btw, they can take me to jail if they want

this is how countries self implode via driving away all their talent
its look like anyone is living in denmark for the good weather or anything lol and since the eu hasnt collapsed yet they can move out in a day

Denmark is a tiny country; an excellent test case for something like this... If it works out well, if it kills crypto in Denmark, then it'll probably be rolled out elsewhere.

bitcoin is anonymous.

eu citizens will always have malta to escape to
they are pretty pro new online things

I suspect a major difference here in is the competence of the state. Denmark's ability to ass rape it's citizens through taxation presumably is light years ahead of India's. If you commit tax fraud in India chances are you'll probably be fine. If you commit tax fraud in Denmark chances are you'll get ass raped to death.

The problem here is that this tax does not just apply to crypto acquired after the passing of the legislation. It applies to all crypto ever acquired. If you're a Dane and you bought crypto 10 years ago, this new law will apply to that crypto. You can't get out of this by leaving the country before the legislation passes... Unless you flee to somewhere without extradition or something.

No it isn't. And even if it were it'd make things even worse, I think. With an actual privacy coin like Monero it'd be even harder to prove that you no longer have possession of t...

good luck getting that past the eu courts if the person in question actually changed residency
retroactive taxation would be rather hard to do
pretty sure the wording means crypto bought in previous years would still count as your cost basis for the calculation of this taxation rather than the price at jan first
imagine the cluster fuck if you actually owned potentially 15 years of cap gains, at that point you are forced to go to redacted forever

You may be right. However, you are underestimating the maliciousness of Danish tax authorities. There have been multiple cases of people getting their lives utterly ruined by the existing tax laws in ways that literally everyone agrees are unconscionable; a teacher being ordered to pay millions of tax on trades that lost him money, a guy being ordered to pay 30000% tax etc... Cases like this regularly end up in the courts and in 100% of cases the court sides with the state.

Yes, there literally is a guy who's been ordered by the court to pay 30000% cap gains tax on his crypto. That's not an exaggeration.

propose bill

nothing ever happens, it is a recommendation. even the tweet you posted got fact-checked

officials in democracies will propose hundreds of worthless bills, of which only a handful will even be considered (let alone implemented), to justify their worthless existence

unrealized gains

Wait what
So like if I put in 200k in crypto
I will have to pay 80k next year despite having no money on my bank?

and what was the justification for these actions

Nord cucks being nord cucks kek. Gotta pay taxes for Hammed. Thank God everyday if you're not a nordcuck

So like if I put in 200k in crypto

That means that if by the end of the year your crypto is 300k, you have to pay taxes for those 100k you gained, even if you didn't cashed out.

yes, it is truly this retarded. nation states are starting to fear competition, that is why you see this happening

nation states are starting to fear competition

It's dumb. Because competition will be where people will move to. Won't be long until countries will be doing the opposite and COMPETE for well off people from overtaxed and broken EU states to move to their countries.

I used to think Denmark was based. I'm sorry, Danebros.

wait until i tell you about mandatory steroid testing in danish gyms.

retard doesn't understand it still needs to be voted and it will certainly not pass

Judaism

What happens if the citizen dont pay?

thank you for spreading some hope

Obviously I do understand that. What on earth makes you think it won't pass? Everything I've seen indicates in the strongest possible way that it will pass. Basically only Liberal Alliance openly oppose it. One of the few things that unite Danish law makers is hatred of crypto.

That's not mandatory though, lol... Gyms owners can choose to sign up for anti-doping of their own volition. Plenty of gym owners choose not to. Gym goes can freely choose a gym that is part of anti-doping or one that isn't.

what can we do to prevent this shit happening all over Europe? are we in the hands of politicians or is there literally anything we can do?

unrealized gain taxes are an insanely retarded idea. what then prevents them to do the same with any asset? only complete leftists would approve that.

Frogga dev, what does this mean for the coin?

I don't understand how does it end then. Do you have to sell absolutely everything or what?

It doesn't end roflmao. It's a tax on unrealized gains. If you buy crypto you will pay >40% taxes on price appreciation every single year.
So if your crypto keeps going up year after year you will simply have to sell some every single year to pay the tax. The end result is that investing is completely pointless because you end up selling off all your investments to pay the taxes.

not just apply to crypto acquired after the passing of the legislation

are you sure that it's retroactive? didn't know denmark is such a shithole. that's socialism for you i guess.

A tax on unrealized gains is impossible. Specially in something as volatile as crypto. Unless is a very very small percentage.
Would it count if you buy some of the etfs? or MSTR stock?

retroactive taxation would be rather hard to do

Germany has this.

If you lived for 5 years in Germany, you are liable fto German capital gain taxes for the next 10 years after leaving.

You sure? To anywhere? Not just if you leave to some 'low tax paradise'?

Does that apply to shitskins too?

A tax on unrealized gains is impossible. Specially in something as volatile as crypto. Unless is a very very small percentage.

Would it count if you buy some of the etfs? or MSTR stock?

Nigga, we already have unrealized cap gains tax on ETFS here in Denmark. roflmao.

wat? How is somebody still living in Denmark?
Unrealized cap gains on what Etfs? All of them?

Yes. All of them. And it's not just ETFS. That's one of the reasons the political parasites feel confident enough to introduce this poison to crypto as well.
We live here because we must.
Tbh it's quite a nice place to live for most people. Just not investors. Denmark is dystopian hell on earth for investors. Literally worst place in the entire world if you want to /make it/.

there's no guarantee they wouldn't extend retarded regulations to other assets as well
it seems like those in power are free to do whatever they want without requiring their citizens' approval beforehand
when no one speaks up and the average person isn't even financially literate, i don't see why governments couldn't just estabilish whatever taxes they want
who's even going to speak up for the 4 outcasts who hold crypto? the average person doesn't care, if anything they see it as a scam

Color me surprised

who's even going to speak up for the 4 outcasts who hold crypto?

Over 300k people hold crypto in Denmark. 5% of the population.
That won't stop the parasite politicians though.
