99% of my buyers have been great, but there are a few that I want to visit in their homes, just to chat.
item gets lost in the mail
I give the buyer a full refund and eat the loss
he leaves a negative feedback because "never received the item"
refuses to change it when I ask
Why I don't sell phones anymore
selling an obviously broken old iPhone with horribly cracked screen for $16 with free shipping
listed as "for parts or repair"
multiple photos of screen, which is visibly shattered in all of them
have the words "cracked screen" in the title and description
buyer leaves a negative feedback because "phone came with a cracked screen"
Another one
buyer messages me asking to weigh the item, and a bunch of additional measurements
I take the time out of my day to get the measurements and weight for him
"okay, everything checks out. If you drop the price to $200 I'll buy it for sure"
I drop the price
buyer ghosts me
And my favorite
selling a road bike for $1200
buyer tells me a sob story about how he's recovering from surgery and needs it for exercise, pleads with me to drop it to $1000
I oblige
see it listed next week for $2200
I've learned that half the battle with eBay is finding a niche that has high quality customers. Apple products are probably the worst customer base, some of the best is vintage collectibles as long as you're honest about the condition.
