Anons, which hardware wallet should I go for?
I've invested a several months worth of money into crypto and Metamask doesn't seem such a great idea anymore.
Ledger vs Trezor
Just run bitcoin core on a single-purpose computer
Anons, which hardware wallet should I go for?
Neither you retarded consoomer
I hold minimal BTC, not worth it with the amount of money I'm able to throw at crypto.
:(
Trezor seems better of the two anon.
Just bought a Trezor Safe 3 today.
better security than Ledgcuck
open source code
cheaper ($79)
no backstabbing devs that can just decide to upgrade your device remotely with an option to store somewhere else your fucking seed phrase, thereby creating a gigantic security risk
Trezor is the obvious winner.
It indeed seems so
Anyone still buying ledger is a fucking retarded faggot nigger and deserves getting drained by a french cock
honhonhonhon le ledgér
can I use trezor with a phone? Thinking of buying a new iphone to only use to store crypto + trezor
Do americans really deposit their meme coins on fragile hardware?
Trezor Suite on macos is broken and can't update firmware anymore.
Not an American but desu I would rather trust hardware than some downloadable wallet
not French
gatekeeps iToddlers
Trezor it is.
Look up Airgap if you look for a phone hardware wallet, its sponsored by Trezor among others
I got both for fun but I like the trezor more.
there's no reason to use ledger. the company just killed itself.
I moved majority of my holdings from ledger to trezor. Trezor is hands down better in every way and they don’t try to back door your ass in the future. Also u can swap cryptos directly on trezor suite. It’s awesome.
Ledger is such a cool company, the company has access to your keys. They even have an FBI backdoor for free! How nice of them
Trezor good. Ledger bad.
This but unironically
Trezor all the way i hold all my btc, eth and agrs bags there. I wouldn't trust 50k to a flimsy extension wallet
The memecoins are stored on-chain, mongrel.
This is unfortunately the most important thread for any anon visiting Anon Babble to see in the last 18 months.
I didn't own enough for it to matter but I will soon and 3 letter agencies can tonge sub-saharan unwashed anus.
Trevor it is.
trusting yuropoors with hardware with known backdoors
trezor all the way
I use Tangem
Fuck you autocorrect
*tongue
usb stick with tails os is still more safe than both
I own a ledger and they got their customer data leaked, with my info on there. They store your transaction and IP data through ledger live for 5 years, and now their new pass phrase sharding service has exposed that they went back on their promise that the seedphrase can never be seen by the computer.
Don't be a retard like me, stay open source at the minimum.
Tremors are not only safer, but they’re durable enough to safely store up your ass.
This
This is why I'd rather just buy the device from Amazon. I'll never have to worry about my data being leaked.
Trezor also had customer data leaked.
False. You require a trusted computer for a live disk to be secure at all, that's the advantage of a hardware wallet, it's a dedicated secure device for keys and signing
tremors
Whatever
we only store your sensitive information for 5 years goyim. After the 5 year mark we delete it all, pinky swear.
Why settle for less when you don't have to? Buy a trezor or some similar open source wallet. End of story.
Good morning sir. How was last night's cow urine? Good I hoping sir.
have a rather retarded amount of money on the exchange
suck it up and finally buy a trezor
still in the box, just sits in a drawer
can't get over the anxiety of what if I lose it or what if it breaks or something
leave everything on the exchange
can't get over the anxiety of what if they get gox'd, what if I get compromised, what if the feds seize it
It never ends
Dumbfuck, buy a fucking metal stamp set and pound your seed phrase into a stainless steel sheet and bury it. Not difficult, retard
Trezors allow you to lock your bitcoin. I locked mine at 52k, whew.
can't get over the anxiety of what if I lose it or what if it breaks or something
retard believes his coins are in the trezor. kek anon, you can lose your device and still access your coins, the same way you can lose your computer and still access your emails. your emails are stored in a cloud not in your computer. your coins are stored on the blockchain, not on your device. what you really need to save is your seed phrase. go buy that trezor now.
both
I have an engraver and I used to do sneeds this way but it never makes sense to do this in 20current year because at some point I want to spend my coins. Now I have a problem of passing my words rawdog on a connected device.
If I had a metal backup and buy a totally new trezor, can I just import my wallet to it securely? That would help me get over the what if
What is this 2019? Get a Grid Plus dumbass it's the best hardware wallet that currently exists
buy a fucking metal stamp set and pound your seed phrase into a stainless steel sheet and bury it
kind of a bad idea if you dont own a property. if someone gets hold of it they can steal your coins. the easiest way to store your seed phrase is in a veracrypt volume and save it on different usb keys. you can hide the passphrase of the encrypted file at several places.
Retards maaah ledger maaah ledger. If you use ledger recovery youre a fucking retard other than that it's fine.
Is the model T worth the extra price
chuds believe ledger will steal their coin but in reality that recovery feature will save many retards from permanently losing their coins
If I had a metal backup and buy a totally new trezor, can I just import my wallet to it securely?
Then what's the point of a trezor? Wouldn't it be just as secure to buy a phone, make a metamask wallet on it, do all your buying and selling from a different wallet on a different PC / phone, and periodically send everything you want to hold long term to the wallet on the phone you don't use?
Wouldn't it be just as secure [...]
no. it's the midwit meme: low IQ: trezor good. midwit: akshually... high IQ: trezor good.
I guess this changes my mind a bit
How much do I need to worry about local security with it? Ie, would it protect me even if I pluggd it into an infected AIDS tier pc?
How does cashing out work exactly with a hardware wallet? I have a feeling if I deposit 5 BTC to an exchange in order to sell, the exchange will just (((freeze))) my account
LOLing at niggas not locking their BTC w/ a Trezor
I have mine locked at $67k and my ETH locked at $3800
feels good man
They don't freeze it in the sense that you can't cash out, but today exchanges will absolutely freeze you from withdrawing crypto following certain flagging events to include large transfers in of crypto or fiat. It happened to me after depositing a mere 8 eth. But they will let you sell it for fiat and send it through the banking system. The process if you get flagged is incredibly gay and intrusive.
would it protect me even if I pluggd it into an infected AIDS tier pc?
yes, that's the whole point of a hardware wallet, you can use it on an infected computer
Trezor is a czech company, so you're still trusting your european masters.
Trezor also had customer data leaked.
Trezor had some data on some of their customers leaked (names, emails) because the third party they trusted with that data was hacked, but nothing more. No private keys were ever in danger. Ledger, on the other hand...
expensive
Model one is $59. Trezor Safe 3 is $79.
useless device like from trezor
If a Trezor is useless, so is a Ledger (which does the same thing but is less safe).
what if I lose it or what if it breaks or something
As long as you have your seed phrase, you can just use another device if your trezor breaks.
you need to be at leas 12 years old to browse here lad
Two hundred thirty six thousand united states greenbacks
I guess I'll move it over. I've been sitting on this trezor for 3 months, I mean it's still in the mailing envelope.
This. Listen to wise Anon. Trezor is solid!
even if your computer is giga hacked you'll always have to confirm the transaction on your device, double checking the address you'll send the funds to. the private key in the trezor will never be accessed
if you don't want bitcoin only and you want a crypto specific device your only options are trezor, ledger or bitbox2, in that order (bitbox1 had many amateur flaws). everything else is bitcoin only, made by the chinese, or a bad attempt at securing something insecure by design like android.
don't confuse open source hardware with auditable hardware. in reality the hardware you get can be intercepted, compromised or modified and you would never be able to tell without de-capping and scanning it destroying it in the process.
no reason to use it over a hardware wallet and less secure than a computer without networking capabilities. only makes sense for people holding small amounts of assets no hardware wallet supports.
any cryptocurrency specific device made by mutts or chinks is a non-starter, leaving only devices made in europe using generic components or secure components manufactured or personalized within europe. there's very little choice in the cryptocurrency hardware market.
not if that computer is used for anything else or is ever going to be re-connected to the network once keys have been on it.
same problems with trezor. there are ways to get devices shipped anonymously, and ways to use/upgrade them anonymously but by default they are all data collection devices with the exception of a few bitcoin only ones.
the device is for signing, it's never the only place your keys exist outside of very specific multisig scenarios.
untrusted (ico scam company pivoted to making a hardware wallet), closed source, network connected and a broken paradigm (one device for multiple smartcard "seeds") to boot.
if you're going to encrypted it skip the usb keys and just print out qr codes of the encrypted data and store those instead.
model t and model one are fundamentally broken devices. the only trezor that's secure enough to use is the safe 3, the new one.
there are ways to get devices shipped anonymously
how would you do it?
What's even the point of these things if they don't support a ton of crypto on their native software? Like why can't their software be more like Exodus wallet?
Like why can't their software be more like Exodus wallet?
tf are you talking about? they support even more coins than exodus
they exist to use keys securely not as a primary storage device. the only storage advantage is for travel, taking keys with you on a device protected by a pin is better than taking the seed with you. phones are not as secure, no.
some models of trezor like the one and t are useless and should be avoided. currently they only make one viable model.
had no leaks of key material nor is there any evidence they ever had. their backup "feature" is no more a risk than your hardware wallet accidentally leaking your keys in the first place. the whole thing was overblown by midwits that don't actually understand how all commodity cryptocurrency devices rely entirely on trust.
ship to your office, ship to a hotel or vacation destination. you can ship to an amazon locker but i don't know if those exist outside of north america.
it's very difficult to find alts that aren't worthless that also aren't supported by at least ledger.
model t and model one are fundamentally broken devices. the only trezor that's secure enough to use is the safe 3, the new one.
Really?
Isnt the 1 battle tested? I was gonna buy the 1
So why?
the one and t rely entirely on you setting a strong passphrase, one that's very annoying to enter every time you plug the device in. without it someone that has physical access can within a few minutes extract your keys.
there's no reason to ever buy the one or the t since the safe 3 came out, and trezor will stop selling the one shortly.
Isnt the 1 battle tested? I was gonna buy the 1
it can be hacked like this but only a high level hacker could do it
youtube.com
Thanks i look into it more
For me it's the Trezor ONE.
easy to read screen
can enter secret phrase directly on the device
company hasn't leaked customer base info
support for XMR wallets
Before that I was using 12 words written on a scrap of paper for like 5 years. Scary shit man. I had the watching address to make sure it was still there but the day I put the private keys back on a computer to transfer to the new hardware wallet I was sweating bullets to see if it would come up correctly. In the end it did but the hardware wallet is just so much more secure FEELING, on top of being actually more secure.
And if anyone steals it? Lol good luck getting the crypto off it. You got three tries before it self-wipes. I'll just order another one.
trezor one doesn't support monero?
